  • Mateoja Heritage Trail

    end of 9th Ave. Sointula .

    This trail is an educational trip through the ecosystems of Malcolm Island.  Moderate half day return hike.  The boardwalk crosses over the marshland and there are benches for birdwatchers and picnics.

  • Pulteney Point Lighthouse

    Lighthouse trail is at the end of Pultney Point Road. .

    The island and the Point  are named after Admiral Sir Pulteney Malcolm, a Scottish born British naval officer. Just before the metal gate there is a place to park on the right.  Take the short trail to the beach and turn left.   Watch the tides! 

  • Beautiful Bay Trail

    6 km out of town. There are signs for Bere Point Campground. .

    Eagles, dolphins, porpoise, sea lions and humpback whales frequent the area.  Orcas come in to the beach to rub on the smooth stones.   There is a wonderful campsite and it's a great place to kayak.
